Tokyo: Who are you rooting for in the Democratic Party of Japan's leadership election?
Aya YokoiMother, 33(Japanese)I want (Prime Minister Naoto) Kan to win the election. I don't think it's good for the DPJ to change leader so often. (Ichiro) Ozawa is a symbol of the typical Liberal Democratic Party politician, but Kan seems to be a different breed.

Sapporo: What was your summer highlight?
Michiko AnzawaHousewife, 57I live near Odori Park, so I went for walks around here quite often. It's a big park and it's much less crowded than the rest of the city. I like the roses in the 12-chome area of the park, and the cherry blossoms in spring are amazing.

Somboon Phinichkusolchit, 45Textile merchant (Thai/Indian)The Denmark game was the best I have seen from Japan in years. To beat Paraguay it must be the same formation. Good results breed confidence, but Japan must beware of over-confidence. Go Samurai Spirit!

What do you make of Isesaki City's local government beard ban?
Tom Wah, 42Computer analyst (Hong Kong)All companies have the right to set certain rules about the way employees look. However, a ban on beards is going too far. If a worker keeps it trimmed and tidy, then that should be enough.
