Tokaido Shinkansen trains were canceled due to heavy rains in Tokyo on Thursday after Typhoon Shanshan, one of Japan's strongest typhoons in decades, dumped torrential rain across southern regions.

Tokaido Shinkansen line back in service on all sections
JR Tokai earlier said it would resume services on all sections from the first trains of Monday. But it moved up the plan as weather improved and safety was confirmed.
