Publisher finds surprise audience after translating history textbooks
The English versions of Yamakawa Shuppansha's iconic textbooks appear to be popular among Japanese businesspeople looking to discuss history with their overseas peers.
Textbook publisher Kyoiku-Shuppan switched a section about Ippei Mizuhara (left) in its English textbook to a story about Japanese men's national soccer team.

The section has been replaced with a section on the Japanese men's national soccer team.
The European Organization for Nuclear Research's Large Hadron Collider, the world's largest particle accelerator, is depicted as a circle in tactile drawing in the new book, as opposed to the three-dimensional figure in the source material that makes it appear oval, to avoid misunderstanding.
