American skiing great Lindsey Vonn will come out of retirement at age 40 to rejoin the U.S. Ski Team after returning to training following a successful knee surgery earlier this year, U.S. Ski & Snowboard said on Thursday.
Vonn, a three-time Olympic medalist and four-time overall World Cup champion, retired in 2019 after a bruising 18-year career during which she suffered several injuries.
She retired as the most decorated athlete in women's skiing with 82 World Cup wins — a record broken by American compatriot Mikaela Shiffrin in January 2023.
