“Queen Wen” finally earned her crown at the Pan Pacific Open.
Chinese star Zheng Qinwen outlasted Sofia Kenin in a tough first set and was in control the rest of the way as she claimed her second WTA title of the season with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 win in the final at Ariake Coliseum on Sunday afternoon.
“She opened so well, and today was a tough fight,” Zheng said. “I enjoyed (the) victory because, 2022, when I made the final, I was happy, but honestly, I had a lot of regrets (because I couldn’t) get the championship.”
