Ayami Sato may be the most dominant female pitcher ever to pick up a baseball.
Her fastball has been clocked at almost 128 kph (80 mph) and her curveball once drew favorable comparisons to the one Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw throws.
She has helped the Samurai Japan women’s team win six consecutive Women’s Baseball World Cup titles (Japan has won seven straight overall), and she was the MVP of the tournament in 2014, 2016 and 2018. She has also excelled in Japan’s domestic leagues. Basically, wherever the right-hander has toed the rubber, she has dominated.
