Former NBA great Ray Allen is “selfishly” hoping the NBA Finals between the Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks goes the distance — so he can attend Game 7 in Boston on June 23.

The two-time NBA champion watched Game 4 in Tokyo’s Shibuya Ward, where he was the special guest for Rakuten’s NBA Fest in Japan 2024 public viewing event, before hitting the court to run a short basketball clinic for children.

The Mavericks kept alive their (and Allen’s) hopes of a Game 7 by firing on all cylinders at home and routing the Celtics 122-84 in Game 4 to avoid a series sweep. The Celtics, who won the first three games, were trying to clinch their first title since 2008, when Allen was one of the storied franchise’s star players. Game 5 will take place in Boston on Monday.
