Veteran Ayumi Fukushima won women's silver at the world breakdancing championships on Sunday after being outclassed by Lithuania's Dominika Banevic on Sunday.

The 40-year-old Fukushima had a chance to seal a spot in the Paris Olympics by winning worlds, but the 2021 tournament champion, who finished with silver last year, failed after going down to the 16-year-old Banevic.

"I feel like I've given my all but it wasn't quite enough," said Fukushima, who will now focus on punching her Paris ticket at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

"My feeling is I could have done more in the final ... I'll look to improve for the Asian Games," she said.

Last year's winner Ami Yuasa was unable to reach the last eight of the world championships held in Leuven, Belgium.

Japan's Shigeyuki Nakarai won bronze in the men's event, behind American winner Victor Montalvo and runner-up Philip Kim of Canada.
