Annette O’Malley, who was part of the bond between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Japan and helped promote baseball internationally, died on July 19 in Los Angeles due to a longstanding lung disease. O'Malley was 81.
O’Malley was married to Peter O’Malley, who served as the Dodgers president from 1970 to 1998 and became the owner following the death of his father, Walter, from 1979 until 1998.
That period included the team's signing of trailblazing Japanese pitcher Hideo Nomo in 1995.
