Garbine Muguruza is building confidence with each set and in every match as she tries to script a happy ending to a difficult season.
The Spanish former world No. 1 is determined to finish her year on a high note and got off to a good start at the Pan Pacific Open with a 6-4, 6-2 second-round victory over Despina Papamichail at Ariake Coliseum on Wednesday.
"I think that it's been a tough season, a little bit of a rollercoaster," Muguruza said. "I don't know if I am going to be able to, with these last tournaments, have a different feeling. Although that's my goal, to play here, to play in the U.S. after, and Mexico. There's only a few tournaments left and I really want to end the year playing better, feeling better.
