Former NPB and MLB manager Bobby Valentine is running for mayor in his hometown of Stamford, Connecticut, he said Friday.
Valentine, who was also a player and spent parts of five decades in baseball, announced his candidacy in a flashy campaign ad that features testimonials from several members of the community.
"The greatest commodity I have is my time," Valentine said in the ad. "And I want to give my time and my energy and my wherewithal back to the city that has given me so much over my lifetime. We're in it together."
