Tennis players who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 will no longer be considered close contacts of anyone testing positive for the virus, according to new protocols put in place by the ATP, the men's governing body.
Both the ATP and the women's WTA have recommended players accept vaccine shots when available after some at the Miami Open this week expressed a reluctance to get vaccinated.
To encourage players further, the ATP updated its COVID-19 protocols for tournaments this week to include an exemption list for athletes who have completed the full vaccination process to protect themselves against the virus.
