Former George Washington University standout Yuta Watanabe is one of 40 expected attendees for the upcoming NBA Global Camp 2018, the NBA announced in a news release on Wednesday.
The camp, which will feature interview sessions, five-on-five games, shooting drills and agility testing in front of representatives of the 30 NBA teams, is scheduled to start on Saturday and run through Tuesday at La Ghirada Sports Complex in Treviso, Italy.
The camp is a pre-draft showcase for NBA prospects born outside the United States.
The 206-cm Watanabe was the Atlantic 10 Conference’s 2017-18 Defensive Player of the Year as a senior, when he averaged a team-high 16.3 points and 6.1 rebounds in 33 games while also leading the Colonials in blocks (54).
According to the 40-name list released by the NBA, the Kagawa Prefecture native is the lone player from Asia who has confirmed they'll attend the pre-draft showcase.
Watanabe is now represented by Wasserman Media Group, whose NBA clients include stars Anthony Davis (New Orleans Pelicans) and Russell Westbrook (Oklahoma City Thunder).
The NBA Draft will be held on June 21 in New York City.
