10 a.m., Figure skating, women’s singles, free skating: Four-time national champion Satoko Miyahara and 2017 runner-up Kaori Sakamoto ranked fourth and fifth, respectively, after Wednesday’s short program. Alina Zagitova (Olympic Athletes from Russia) leads after the short program with 82.92 points, followed by OAR’s Evgenia Medvedeva (81.61) and Canadian Kaetlyn Osmond (78.87). Miyahara earned 75.94 and Sakamoto received 73.18.
11:30 a.m., Freestyle skiing, women’s cross: Converted Alpine skier Reina Umehara makes her first Olympic appearance. Umehara, who started competing in ski cross in 2008, finished eighth at last year’s world championships.
7 p.m., Speedskating, men’s 1,000 meters: Takuro Oda, Daichi Yamanaka and Tsubasa Hasegawa will compete. Oda finished fifth in the men’s 500 meters, while Yamanaka took fifth place in the men’s 1,500 earlier in the Pyeongchang Olympics.
