Dwane Casey will be the Toronto Raptors' first-ever head coach in the All-Star Game, as he will guide LeBron James' team on Feb. 18 at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Toronto's win on Sunday guaranteed them at least the second-best record in the Eastern Conference through Feb. 4. Brad Stevens, who heads the East-leading Boston Celtics, is not eligible for the honor after coaching in last year's All-Star Game.
The 60-year-old Casey has gone 347-299 in nine seasons as an NBA head coach, including 294-230 in seven campaigns with the Raptors. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, he coached in the Japan Basketball League and Japan's college ranks.
