Senior pitcher Shoki Murakami hit a run-scoring double in the bottom of the 11th inning to lead Chiben Gakuen of Nara Prefecture to a 2-1 victory over Kagawa's Takamatsu Shogyo on Thursday in the final of the National High School Invitational Tournament.
Playing at Koshien Stadium in Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture, Murakami hurled an eight-hitter over the distance.
It was the first ever high school championship for Chiben Gakuen, which marked its second consecutive sayonara win after beating Ryukokudai Heian of Kyoto 2-1 in the semifinals on Wednesday.
