The Rizing Fukuoka scored points in a hurry and never let up in Friday's series opener against the host Hiroshima Lightning in Yamaguchi.
The Rizing snapped a 12-game losing streak, winning 108-61.
As a result, Hiroshima (1-40) suffered its 35th straight defeat, a bj-league record.
Joseph Taylor led Fukuoka (15-30) with 20 points on 9-for-11 shooting and 10 rebounds. He also blocked two shots.
Donnavan Kirk scored 16 points for the Rizing and hauled in 15 rebounds. Minoru Kimura and Josei Maniwa finished with 14 points apiece and Keisuke Takabatake poured in 13.
Fukuoka canned 10 of 19 3-point shots, and out-rebounded Hiroshima 57-36.Rizing veteran standouts Josh Peppers and Cohey Aoki were both sidelined with injuries.
The Lightning trailed 58-33 at halftime.
Hiroshima's Ayumu Osawa had a team-high 17 points.
HeatDevils 79, Five Arrows 62
In Shikokuchuo, Ehime Prefecture, Oita Ehime dominated in the fourth quarter of its series opener against Takamatsu.
The hosts outscored the Five Arrows 35-13 in the final period to close out the victory.
Chehales Tapscott paced Oita (12-31) with 25 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Tatsuhiko Toshino scored 19 points and Koki Wada had 11. Patrick Simon contributed six points, 15 rebounds, five steals and two blocks.
For Takamatsu (11-32), Jarvis Williams had 14 points. Nino Johnson scored 12 points and pulled down 21 rebounds and Kazuki Yamashita added 10 points. Guard Masaaki Suzuki had seven points but turned the ball over nine times.
