Yuta Watanabe and the George Washington men's basketball team extended their season by defeating the visiting and second-seeded University of Florida 82-77 in the NIT quarterfinals on Wednesday.
The fourth-seeded Colonials (26-10) advance to the semifinals next Tuesday at Madison Square Garden in New York, where they'll face San Diego State, another No 2 seed.
It was a tight game, with the lead changing 14 times in Washington, D.C.
Tyler Cavanaugh led GW with 23 points, Kevin Larsen had 19 points and 13 rebounds and Watanabe, one of three guards in the starting lineup, finished with five points, six rebounds and a block.
