The hot-shooting Toyama Grouses trounced the Shinshu Brave Warriors in their series opener on Saturday, winning 84-60.
Grouses coach Bob Nash's team shot 58.5 percent from inside the 3-point arc, converting 31 of 53 shots. Toyama (27-12) only attempted 12 3s and made four of them.
Drew Viney and Sam Willard had 13 points apiece for the Grouses in Chikuma, Nagano Prefecture. Willard grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds. Daichi Tanaka and Masashi Joho both had 11 points for Toyama.
