Saint Joseph's outscored its A-10 rival 51-31 in the second half.
Watanabe, who hails from Kagawa Prefecture, was held to six points on 2-for-8 shooting.
Saint Joseph's improved to 25-7; George Washington slipped to 23-10.
The Colonials could receive an at-large invitation to the NCAA Men's Tournament. The team now awaits the Selection Sunday announcement of the invited 68 teams.
