Best-selling author Robert Whiting, who first came to Japan in 1962 and is regarded as one of the foremost experts on the social, political, economic and sporting landscapes of the country, has launched a weekly podcast.
"Robert Whiting's Japan" offers listeners throughout the world the opportunity to learn about the past, present and future of the nation on a digital platform. Whiting discusses current events and trends and the news makers who are shaping them in each show. He also provides insight on historical figures and their legacies.
A new podcast is posted each week and is available on SoundCloud and via iTunes. Listeners are invited to submit questions to Whiting via email ([email protected]) and can request certain topics be discussed.
Whiting is most well known for writing "You Gotta Have Wa," which was published in 1989 and is now in its 26th printing, and "Tokyo Underworld," which came out in 2000. The Tokyo resident has also published 20 books in Japanese. He is a contributor to The Japan Times and a board member of the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan.
