Star guard Yuki Togashi has signed with the Chiba Jets, the NBL Eastern Conference club announced on Monday.
Togashi was released from Italian Serie A club Dinamo Sassari, with whom the 22-year-old had signed a preseason contract, last week.
"I'm grateful to the Chiba Jets officials for having welcomed me right before the season begins," Togashi, who played for the Texas Legends of the NBDL last summer, said in a statement. "I'd like to learn and absorb as much as I can with the Jets this year and be a player that eventually comes through internationally."
The 167-cm player played high school ball for Montrose Christian School in Maryland, and then returned to Japan to play for the bj-league's Akita Northern Happinets.
"We are pleased that Yuki Togashi has chosen to play in the NBL, as a member of the Chiba Jets, after returning home from his challenge overseas this year," Jets president Shinji Shimada said in a statement. "I think he'll still look to play overseas, but believe that he'll do his best to contribute to victories for the Chiba Jets this season."
