Keisuke Honda believes fans were right to boo him and his Japan teammates after Tuesday's shock World Cup qualifying 0-0 draw with Singapore, and insists he would have had no complaints had they voiced their displeasure louder.
Japan got its bid to reach a sixth straight World Cup off to a frustrating start with a stalemate against the world's 154th-ranked side, huffing and puffing but failing to land the killer blow in front of 57,533 expectant fans at Saitama Stadium.
The result gave Japan a wakeup call after winning its first three games under new manager Vahid Halilhodzic, and a chorus of boos rammed the point home as the players came to terms with finding themselves second from bottom in the qualifying group behind Singapore, Syria and Afghanistan.
