The Tokyo Cinq Reves have decided not to renew head coach Motofumi Aoki's contract, the bj-league club recently announced on its website.
The Cinq Reves had a league-worst 5-47 record this season.
Aoki, 50, has guided the Eastern Conference squad since its inception in 2012. Tokyo had an 18-34 record in its inaugural season, then went 13-39 in 2013-14.
Before joining the Cinq Reves, Aoki led three other bj-league franchise: Takamatsu Five Arrows (2006-09), now-defunct Tokyo Apache (2009-10) and Shinshu Brave Warriors (2011-12). He also worked as technical director for the bj-league academy from 2010-11.
Aoki earned the circuit's Coach of the Year honor for the 2006-07 season, when he took the Five Arrows to the title game as a first-year franchise. The Osaka Evessa captured their second of three straight titles that spring.
While at Takamatsu, his teams made the playoffs in three straight seasons and posted win-loss records of 25-15, 30-14 and 33-19 in succession.
Aoki replaced Joe Bryant at the helm for the Apache, and they went 22-30 and reached the playoffs again after back-to-back championship runnerup seasons under Kobe's father.
At Shinshu, Aoki worked as bench boss for the team's first season, and the Brave Warriors had an 18-34 campaign.
