Watanabe Gym chairman Hitoshi Watanabe confessed that he hadn't been sure if it was right to select undefeated fighter Jomthong Chuwattana as the opponent for his own Takashi Uchiyama, because he knew the Thai could pose a legitimate threat.
In the end, Watanabe's fears were proven utterly groundless.
Uchiyama landed a monster right straight on Jomthong to end the fight in the second round, defending his WBA super featherweight belt for the 10th time on Wednesday before a jam-packed crowd of 4,400 at Tokyo's Ota City General Gymnasium.
