The third-seeded University of Rhode Island men's basketball team outplayed George Washington University in the second half en route to a 71-58 victory in the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament quarterfinals on Friday in New York.
GWU freshman forward Yuta Watanabe had eight points and two rebounds. He was 1-for-5 from the floor and 6-for-6 at the free-throw line. He picked up five fouls in 20 minutes.
The Colonials (21-12) led 32-30 at halftime but yielded 41 points after intermission.
Selection Sunday now looms for GWU, with a possible National Invitation Tournament berth.
