Gamba Osaka added another title to their bulging collection with a 2-0 win over Urawa Reds in the Fuji Xerox Super Cup on Saturday.
Gamba won the J. League title, Nabisco Cup and Emperor's Cup for a remarkable treble last season, meaning last year's league runnerup Urawa had to make up the numbers at Nissan Stadium for the season curtain-raiser between league and cup champions.
Takashi Usami broke open a tight game with a goal in the 68th minute, before strike partner Patric scored a second in injury time to heap further misery on Reds after Gamba pipped them to the league title at the death last season.
