The Texas Legends are on a 10-day break, but guard Yuki Togashi may be getting antsy to get back on the court at any moment.
After all, the 21-year-old Niigata Prefecture native is coming off a season-best 12-point effort on Sunday against the host Rio Grande Valley Vipers. He was 4-for-7 from the field, including 2-for-3 from 3-point range, and sank both of his free-throw attempts in the NBA Development League game.
The former bj-league standout, who starred for the Akita Northern Happinets in the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons, also dished out four assists in the 148-105 victory. He logged 21 minutes in the rout, matching his season high in that category.
Togashi topped his previous season-high scoring output (11 points), which was set on Dec. 29.
Entering the All-Star break, the Legends (16-14) are in second place in the D-League's Southwest Division. The Austin Spurs (22-9) are in first place.
In 23 games, Togashi is averaging 8.6 minutes, 2.2 points and 1.0 assists. He's shooting 45 percent from the floor, 50 percent on 3s and 66.7 percent at the line.
The Legends open the second half of their season on Feb. 18 against the Santa Cruz Warriors (19-12), who are coached by former Tokyo Apache assistant Casey Hill.
The NBA Development League will hold its ninth annual All-Star Game on Sunday at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. NBA TV will televise the game.
