Beleaguered Japan coach Javier Aguirre on Thursday refused to comment on the latest episode in an alleged match-fixing scandal involving the Mexican, but his job appears to be far from guaranteed beyond the Asian Cup currently being held in Australia.

A Valencia court has accepted a claim filed by Spanish prosecutors accusing Aguirre and 40 other individuals of involvement in fixing a match between his former club Real Zaragoza and Levante in 2011.

According to reports out of Spain, court proceedings are expected to start in February, and the 56-year-old Aguirre, who has vehemently denied the accusations, could be asked to appear in court to defend himself.
