Freshman forward Yuta Watanabe scored a team-high 12 points to tie his career-high total in George Washington University's 63-50 loss to Atlantic-10 Conference rival La Salle on Saturday in Philadelphia.
The 203-cm Watanabe, who hails from Kagawa Prefecture, was 8-for-8 from the free-throw line in 24 minutes.
The Colonials (12-4, 2-1 A-10) trailed 19-2 in the first half. They had a season-high 20 turnovers, including 14 in the first half.
Watanabe, a key reserve who has scored 10 or more points in six straight games, is averaging 8.0 points and 3.8 rebounds in 16 games. He's shooting 81.3 percent from the line.
