The Ryukyu Golden Kings opened the 2015 portion of their season schedule the way they ended 2014: with a victory.
Reigning champion Ryukyu routed the visiting Shinshu Brave Warriors 83-68 on Thursday in the bj-league.
The Golden Kings (21-4 overall, 10-1 at home) took a 12-point advantage into the fourth quarter and scored 30 points over the final 10 minutes to secure the rout.
Anthony McHenry and Ryuichi Kishimoto both had 16-point games for Ryukyu. McHenry added 10 rebounds, five assists and two blocks. Teammates Draelon Burns and Naoto Kosuge chipped in with 10 points apiece, while Narito Namizato and Morihisa Yamauchi added eight and seven, respectively.
Anthony Kent, a Ball State product, grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds for the hosts, who played before an announced crowd of 3,495 in Naha, Okinawa Prefecture.
Ryukyu shot 53.2 percent from 2-point range and limited Shinshu to 36.4 percent (20-for-55).
Patrick Sanders finished with 17 points, nine rebounds and three steals for the Brave Warriors (9-14), who have lost their past five games. Mohamed Abukar also had a 17-point effort and Shoji Nakanishi poured in 10 points. DeVaughn Washington had eight points.
