In the week before the Detroit Lions defeated the Atlanta Falcons 22-21 at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, there were several reports that mentioned the possibility of a future NFL franchise in London.
Many of them said expectations are getting higher year by year, and so does the possibility. The Detroit News reported that Lions owner Tom Leward indicated it's just a matter of time before the NFL decides on the possibility of having a franchise in London.
One of the reasons for such positive speculation is that there are three regular-season games scheduled this season, the most since the NFL started playing at least one regular-season game in the United Kingdom in 2007. Wembley, the home of the English national soccer team, had one regular-season game a year until 2012, then two last season.
