U.S. Open finalist Caroline Wozniacki rallied to beat Australian qualifier Jarmila Gajdosova in three sets to advance to the quarterfinals of the Pan Pacific Open on Thursday

The Danish world No. 9, playing in her first match since losing to Serena Williams in her second U.S. Open final earlier this month, won 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 and will now play eighth-seeded Spaniard Carla Suarez Navarro in the last eight in Tokyo.

Gajdosova, ranked 91st in the world, broke Wozniacki in the opening game of match and repeated the feat in a hard-fought ninth before holding on to take the first set.
