Shun Sugawara threw three touchdown passes and backup Takushiro Hata added two more in the air as the four-time national champion Obic Seagulls whitewashed the Bulls 100-0 in the X League' Central Division game on Sunday at Kawasaki Fujimi Stadium.
The high-scoring Seagulls (2-0) have scored 186 in two games and allowed zero points. Against the Bulls (0-2), all three units — offense, defense, special teams — scored at least one touchdown. Running backs Taeru Nakanishi, Takuto Hara and Hiroki Kato and third string quarterback Manabu Tatsumura each scored at least once on the ground. Tatsumura also threw a touchdown pass.
The Obic defense, which held the Bulls to only eight yards of total offense (69 yards to passing, and minus 69 yards to rushing), scored on a safety, a fumble recovery in the end zone and an interception return touchdown. Meanwhile, Keizaburo Sunagawa returned a punt 21 yards for a score.
