Japan goalkeeper Eiji Kawashima was one of several players to put the boot in on the World Cup ball in South Africa four years ago, but the Standard Liege custodian says he has no such worries about the "Brazuca" to be used at the Brazil tournament kicking off on Thursday.

In 2010, the "Jabulani" was described by some players as "supernatural" and "like a beach ball," while Kawashima said it "doesn't swerve even when players try to curl it and it travels further."

Speaking at Japan's training camp ahead of the Samurai Blue's opening Group C game against Cote d'Ivoire in Recife on Saturday, Kawashima said, "Last time (in South Africa) it was all over the place and in addition to that we were playing at high altitude. It was really unpredictable.
