Former Yomiuri Giants star outfielder Warren Cromartie's book on his life in Japanese baseball, "Slugging It Out In Japan," which was co-written with best-selling author Robert Whiting, is now available in digital form for the first time.
Originally published in 1991, the work details Cromartie's seven years playing for the nation's most storied team and the fun and frustration he experienced during his long run. Cromartie joined the Giants in 1984 following a solid career with the Montreal Expos.
The tome was Whiting's third work on Japanese baseball, following "The Chrysanthemum and the Bat" and the classic "You Gotta Have Wa."
"Slugging It Out In Japan," is now available through Apple's iBookstore, Amazon in the Kindle Edition, and Barnes & Noble, after being digitized by Japanime Co. Ltd.
"The collaboration between Warren Cromartie and Robert Whiting resulted in an exceptional look at the inside world of Japanese baseball viewed through the prism of a major league star," says Japanime president Glenn Kardy. "Mr. Whiting's profound knowledge of Japan and its culture is reflected throughout this work. This is a chance for readers to enhance their knowledge of both the country and the sport."
"The Chrysanthemum and the Bat" was released in digital form for the first time by Japanime last month.
