Yuji Ide canned four 3-point shots and scored a game-high 22 points and Ricky Woods and Edward Morris poured in 19 points apiece as the Tokyo Cinq Reves defeated the Gunma Crane Thunders 81-75 on Friday night.
The Cinq Reves led 38-37 at halftime in the bj-league series opener between two struggling second-year franchises in Inagi, Tokyo.
Morris grabbed 12 rebounds and Woods had eight for Tokyo (8-23). Anthony Stover added seven boards and two blocks. Akihito Inoue had nine points and Takuro Ito contributed seven.
For Gunma (7-26), center Dillion Sneed scored 20 points on 9-for-13 shooting and pulled down 13 rebounds. Teammates Kenya Tomori and Carlos Dixon had 15 and 12 points, respectively.
Tohoku newcomer: The Sendai 89ers have signed forward DeAngelo Hamilton, it was announced on Thursday.
The 23-year-old former Washington State player has suited up for pro teams in Turkey and South Korea.
After his three seasons at WSU, the 203-cm Hamilton ranked second on the Cougars' all-time blocked shots list. (He pursued a pro career after his junior season.)
Hamilton is expected to make his Sendai debut on Saturday against the host Aomori Wat's.
