Miki Ito, one of Japan's prospects for the Sochi Olympics in freestyle skiing, suffered a right knee injury, the Ski Association of Japan announced on Wednesday.
Ito, who won the silver medal in the dual mogul event at the world championship in Inawashiroko, Fukushima Prefecture in 2009, has been training in Ruka, Finland, since late last month and was to compete in the World Cup season opener starting on Friday there.
According to the SAJ, Ito fell down during the training and got injured. It has not been disclosed how serious the injury is. Ito was back in Japan on Wednesday to take the medical tests
Japan's Olympic representatives for women's mogul will be announced in mid-January after the World Cup event in Val St. Come, Quebec.
