Newly crowned world champion Daiya Seto won the men's 400-meter individual medley Saturday at a short course World Cup meet in Berlin.
Seto, who won the 400 IM at last week's world championships, captured the title in a Japanese short-course record of 3 minutes, 58.84 seconds.
The 19-year-old Seto was also third in the 200 butterfly (1:50.96) and fourth in the 200 breaststroke (2:04.50) — both personal bests.
"I felt really good," Seto said. "I rewrote my time in all three events, which means a lot to me."
Aya Terakawa won the women's 50 backstroke in 26.06.
