Veteran guard/forward Takuya Kawamura will play for the Wakayama Trians during the 2013-14 season, giving the squad a star presence under new coach Zeljko Pavlicevic.
The move was announced on Monday by the National Basketball League (relaunched JBL) squad.
Kawamura played for Pavlicevic on the Japan national team during the 2006 FIBA World Championship. He is a four-time JBL scoring champion.
Earlier this summer, Kawamura, 27, participated in workouts with various pros in Arizona. He wanted to land an NBA Summer League roster spot, but that did not materialize.
Kawamura began his career in 2005 with OSG Phoenix, the squad that defected to the bj-league in 2008 and is now known as Hamamatsu Higashimikawa Phoenix. He played for Link Tochigi Brex from 2008-13.
