Japan captain Makoto Hasebe set up Bas Dost for the third goal in his first appearance of the season on Saturday as Wolfsburg hammered Fortuna Dusseldorf 4-1 away to move off the foot of the Bundesliga.

Hasebe had fallen out of favor and not even made the bench prior to Saturday's game, but he was provided with a chance to prove himself by caretaker manager Lorenz-Guenther Koestner in his first match in charge after Wolfsburg on Thursday parted company with Felix Magath.

"The team winning was a bigger deal than me getting an assist," said Hasebe. I am glad we were able to get three points away from home.
