Consadole Sapporo manager Nobuhiro Ishizaki will step down at the end of this season after the Hokkaido club was relegated to the second division last week after just one season back in the top flight, Consadole said Friday.

"It is a real shame that the club has been relegated and I really feel sorry for the fans," said Ishizaki, who took over as Sapporo boss in 2009 when the club was in J2 and was in the final year of his contract this season.

Sapporo has been rooted to the foot of the table for most of this season, having won just three times against one draw and 23 defeats.
