Reigning champion Germany will meet host Japan for a place in the Under-20 Women's World Cup final after a crushing 4-0 win over Norway on Friday.

Germany, in scintillating form as it aims to become the first team to win successive titles, was out of sight by half time, three goals including a double for Lena Lotzen coming in the opening 20 minutes at Komaba Stadium.

The Germans in Tuesday's semis will meet the Japanese after Young Nadeshiko defeated South Korea 3-1 in their quarterfinal in Tokyo against South Korea on Thursday.

Also Friday, the United States beat North Korea 2-1 in extra time thanks to Chioma Ubogagu's 98th-minute winner in the other quarterfinal and will meet Nigeria in the last four.
