Former Arsenal star and Sweden international Freddie Ljungberg has decided to bring down the curtain on his career, his publicist told Swedish television on Friday. The 35-year-old has not played since he parted company with J.League first-division club Shimizu S-Pulse in February.

Ljungberg was capped 75 times for Sweden and twice won Premier League titles with Arsenal. After leaving Arsenal he played for Celtic, Swedish club Halmstad and in the United States before moving to Shimizu in September 2011. He did not score in his 11 games for S-Pulse.
