Well-traveled bench boss John Neumann, the 2007-08 bj-league Coach of the Year, has been hired as the ABA's Atlanta Wildcats' new coach/general manager.
After leaving the Takamatsu Five Arrows, his second bj-league coaching gig, in 2010, Neumann spent the past two seasons leading the Romanian national team.
Neumann, 60, guided the Rizing Fukuoka for their first two seasons and picked up the coaching accolade while taking the club to the Final Four as an expansion team. He has coached in 10 countries.
He played in the ABA and NBA in the 1970s. As a college sophomore at the University of Mississippi, Neumann scored 40.1 points per game in 1970-71.
