Japan and Manchester United midfielder Shinji Kagawa finished fourth in a vote by German sports journalists to name the country's male soccer player of the year for the 2011-2012 season. The results were announced Sunday.

Kagawa, who transferred to Manchester United during the summer, was instrumental in leading Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund to the league and cup double. Marco Reus, who joined Dortmund this summer from Borussia Monchengladbach, finished first in the voting to win the award for the first time.
