Midfielder Yusuke Tasaka officially joined German second-division club Bochum from Kawasaki Frontale on Tuesday, when he inked a three-year deal after undergoing a medical earlier in the day.

"I want to perform in Germany and contribute to the team," Tasaka said in a statement released by the North Rhine-Westphalia club.

Tasaka is following in the footsteps of former Frontale teammate and North Korea international forward Chong Tese, who transferred this year from Bochum to Cologne.

"Chong told me a lot about the club and about Bochum," the statement said. "I'm really happy to get an opportunity to try to succeed in a new environment."
