New Hawks right-hander Terry Doyle won his Japan debut on Monday, allowing one run in five innings in Fukuoka Softbank's 2-1 victory over the Orix Buffaloes at Yahoo Dome.

Nobuhiko Matsunaka broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the fifth with a leadoff homer off Hiroshi Kisanuki (2-6) to lift the Hawks to their fourth straight win.

"I just tried to stay calm," said Doyle, who gave up four hits and a walk while hitting a batter before a crowd of 38,561 that equaled the Hawks' largest of the year. "With the music playing and all the fans, I was a little nervous, so I tried to stay calm."
