Texas right-hander Yoshinori Tateyama was sent back down to Triple-A Round Rock as the Rangers recalled catcher Luis Martinez, the team said Saturday.

The move provides the Rangers with backup at catcher, as they are trying to rest Mike Napoli who bruised his thigh in Friday's game.

Tateyama, 36, was demoted to the minors for the second time on June 16 before receiving a callup on June 29 to fill the hole in the bullpen after reliever Mark Lowe was injured.

The Japanese side-armer has a 1-0 record with an 11.37 ERA in 11 relief appearances this season, his second with the Rangers.
