The Central and Pacific leagues filled out their rosters on Monday, when CL skipper Morimichi Takagi of the Chunichi Dragons and PL boss Koji Akiyama of the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks added their selections to those of the fans and the players.

Takagi, who had 16 roster spots to fill, added four Dragons, including this year's senior statesman, Motonobu Tanishige. The 41-year-old catcher will be making his 10th All-Star appearance, the most on either squad.

Each manager named one rookie pitcher to his squad, with Takagi picking Hiroshima Carp starter Yusuke Nomura and Akiyama picking Chiba Lotte Marines middle reliever Naoya Masuda.

The Yakult Swallows led both leagues in manager picks with five, while the Dragons and Marines had four each.

In addition to Nomura and Masuda, the managers made first-time All Stars out of 11 players, three with the Swallows: closer Tony Barnette, starting pitcher Katsuki Akagawa and outfielder Wladimir Balentien, who leads both leagues with 20 home runs.

Thanks to their overwhelming support in the fan voting, Hokkaido Nippon Ham currently has 10 All-Stars, the most in either league, with Akiyama adding only southpaw starter Mitsuo Yoshikawa to the mix after fans voted in eight Fighters and the players selected second baseman Kensuke Tanaka. Nippon Ham designated hitter Terrmel Sledge, however, is unlikely to take part, having suffered a serious knee injury.

The Yomiuri Giants lead the CL with eight players after Takagi added southpaw starter Tetsuya Utsumi and third baseman Shuichi Murata to the roster.

The All-Star series will be played on July 20 at Kyocera Dome, July 21 at Matsuyama's Botchan Stadium and on July 23 at Iwate Prefectural Stadium in Morioka.

Three Iwate natives were added on Monday, Yakult first baseman Kazuhiro Hatakeyama, Seibu Lions right-hander Takayuki Kishi and Lotte lefty Yoshihisa Naruse.
